Interview with the Kratz Brothers

In December I asked John Kratz, of The Kratz Brothers, a few questions about themselves, their band and the local live music scene in general.


The band is currently called Kratz Bros Band, including John Kratz, guitars and vocals, Luke Kratz, keys and vocals, Dorian Hitchcock, cello, and Derrick Strang, drums. The band, now based in Pocatello , Idaho, was formed after John moved back to Idaho from New York City in the summer of 2008.

All original songs written by John and Luke that fuse rock, folk and world music styles. Lyrics are in English and Spanish.


The band has performed in Brooklyn, Manhattan, NY; Alpine and Thayne, WY; Pocatello and Swan Valley, ID

"After a 2-month hiatus for travel, we will resume Pocatello shows and the Onewords tour in March at venues such as Idaho State University, 1st National, Hooligans, Senang, Portneuf Valley Brewery, as well as shows in Boise, Jackson, Idaho Falls, Salt Lake City, and New York City.


The Kratz brothers had their CD release party at Portneuf Valley Brewing on December 27th from 8:30 to 11 p.m. They played tunes from John’s new "Onewords" album. Luke will also be releasing his new album of new original songs (title TBA). Aside the from the usual band lineup, they featured guest vocalist Lindsey Tucker. "Onewords" was available for a $5 - $10 donation.
