Where: Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium - map
How Much: $24.00 - tickets

Josh Tielor, of SE Idaho's 92.1 The Edge radio scored a killer interview with Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin. Check out his blog here.

Andrew McMahon is a singer/songwriter, the vocalist, pianist and primary songwriter for the bands Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin.

In June of 2005, McMahon was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The music website AbsolutePunk.net had orange wristbands specially made, reading "I Will Fight," a line from the song "Watch The Sky," said to be McMahon's favorite song he ever wrote. They sold close to 6,000 bands, raising over $20,000 donated to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. [wiki]

McMahon received a stem cell transplant. In July 2006, McMahon founded a non-profit charity, the Dear Jack Foundation, a source from different charities that channel their proceeds into those organizations that raise money, awareness and do research with blood cancers. Now some three years healthy, McMahon is feeling good and can't complain.

Jack's Mannequin will perform at the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium Thursday, April 9th with Thriving Ivory and Low vs. Diamond.

This is Jack Mannequin's first trip to SE Idaho, "so we're excited. This tour is actually really cool since we have the opportunity to go to a lot of places we haven't been before." Expect to hear a mix from both Jack Mannequin's records, Everything in Transit, released in 2005 and The Glass Passenger, released in September of last year.

"We like to throw stuff in there like a Something Corporate song or a cover. ... We like to keep it loose enough ... and keep it spontaneous. You never know what you're gonna get, I guess."

Tielor asked if McMahon has a pinnacle or golden moment? "Playing Leno definitely had that effect. ... Wow, we're gonna go on and play with Jay Leno! ... For me that was a pretty sweet moment."

I love JACK'S MANNEQUIN! I worked with Something Corporate when they played a show at a venue I worked at in 2002 and thought McMahon was awesome and down to earth! Jack's Mannequin played a great show in 2007 in Chicago and I can't wait to see them again. Great blog!
