Interview with Country Drive

Country Drive is a staple at the local country bars and honky tonks, practically the house band at the 5-Mile Inn in Chubbuck. I caught up with them last spring; I know the information is dated, but here's what I have.


SLG: Tell us about your genre of music? What are some of your most popular songs?

CD: We play mostly country, a lot of old, a little new, older rock and even some blues. There's something for everyone. Just a lot of good music. If you ask us to learn a song we will. We love requests.

Some of our most requested songs include "Keeper of the Stars," "I Love This Bar," "Some Beach," and an original "2 Sides to the Mirror."

SLG: Tell us who's in the band? For how long have you been around?

CD: Country Drive has been around for over 10 years, with members coming and going. The members we have now have been together for over a year and a half.

Jerry rocks on rhythm guitar and sings.
Smitty kills on lead guitar and sings.
Lu plays an awesome fiddle and key board and sings.
Val is a master of the drums.
Shelly plays a mean bass and sings, and her husband Skip plays a great second lead guitar.
Lori used to play with us but lives out of town so she semi-retired but we get her to play as often as possible; she can play anything and has a great voice.

You can find us at the 5 Mile Inn, T.A.P.S, Revive at 5,or Fort Hall Casino. We play private parties, weddings and community events.
