Interview with TrainWreck

Who: TrainWreck
What: Acoustic duo in concert
Where: The Cellar, Idaho Falls ID - map
When: June 27, 2009, 7:00pm

I interviewed Shawn Good (full interview) a few weeks ago for the Grand Opening of the Vinyl Perk. He's collaborating with Amber Lytle in a duo act, calling themselves TrainWreck. It's gonna be good. Read on - here's what Shawn had to say about this project.

SLG: Describe your genre of music for this effort? Maybe list a few songs from your set list?

SG: 3 Best Songs would have to go with "32 Flavors" by Ani Difranco, "Come To My Window" by Melissa Ethridge, and of course good ole "Sweet Home Alabama." I think TrainWreck appeals most to its fans because of the diversity of music that we represent. Coming to a TrainWreck show, you're not going to hear just one type of music. You're more than likely going to hear a song from every radio station on the airwaves except for the gospel channel. Thats why we call ourselves TrainWreck, 'cause it's all these genres of music meshed into one set.

SLG: And I thought maybe it was because it was hard to look away! (laughter) Have the two of you worked as solo artists? Or have you worked with other local bands?

SG: We've both been solo prior to TrainWreck and recently connected while hearing the other sing at a local venue.

SLG: Tell us where you're from and currently based in what town?

SG: Shawn Good is from Nashville, Tennessee born/raised and now resides in Idaho Falls; Amber Lytle is from Boulder, Colorado and too resides here in Idaho Falls.

SLG: Past shows or venues you'd like to brag about? Past or future shows in the Pocatello area?

SG: We've been around SE Idaho on separately on many occasions. We've been seen as solo acts at the Vino Rosso, local events throughout town, Fort Hall and the Vinyl Perk in Pocatello. Looking to come back to the Vinyl Perk again, but also we're wanting to spread out to Pocatello a lot more.

SLG: Describe this particular show coming up. Tell us what you know about this venue.

SG: Our upcoming show is at The Cellar in Idaho Falls. It is June 27, 2009, and we'll be starting around 7pm, playing for a few hours. For those that come to this show you can expect a great listening environment, good food and a great bartender.

Musically, you can expect songs from Ani Difranco, Blake Shelton, Cream, Otis Redding, Lynard Skynard, Jack Johnson, Eric Clapton, Missy Higgins, Melissa Ethridge, Jewel, Oasis, Staind, Radiohead, Tim McGraw, George Straight... like we mentioned earlier, a little something for everyone.

SLG: Any comments about the local live music scene, the music industry in general? What do you think is the best way to get your music out there?

SG: The scene around here is improving everyday. I'd like to see some more venues open up so people had more options each and every weekend. But for now it is what it is and can only improve.

SLG: Do you have any videos on YouTube?

SG: As far as Trainwreck, there are no videos - June 27th will be our first full Live show together. In the following days we will post live video's from the show.

SLG: Great! Be sure to let me know when you do. How about Recordings? Will you have CD's or more for sale at the show?

SG: Nope, but they will be coming in the near future.

SLG: How can fans contact you?

SG: You can find us on Facebook. Come and see us, become a fan and show your support.
